There was some interest in how I made my molds so I thought I would share with everyone. I love making molds because it allows me to make beads out of just about anything. My personal favorite is vintage bits and bobs.
Here's what you will need:
*Megamold Molding Material (available at Cool Tools)
*A paper towel (Your hands will get a bit greasy.)
*Some wax paper or aluminum foil to work on.
*Item you are making a mold of. (I'll be using my favorite vintage button.)
Here is what the molding material looks like...
Take equal parts A & B. I usually just eyeball how much I will need for each object.
Step Two:
Combine A & B until they are a nice solid shade of light blue.
Step Three:
Insert the object into the mold.
You can either push the object into the ball or you can mush the ball over and around the object.
Allow the mold to sit for 5 minutes.
Step Four:
You will notice the mold becomes less greasy and more rubber-like. This is when it is time to remove the object.
Once the mold is done I usually test it quickly with some paper clay. You can see examples in this post.
Tip: If the back of your mold is too thin, roll up a tiny amount of mold material and push it all over the back for reinforcement.
Porcelain charms made from this mold can be seen here.
I hope you have fun making molds!

How awesome (and easy!!) Thanks for the tutorial. Time to order my products now!

Forgot to ask - can this be used with different clays - for example paper clay?
