I'm excited to announce that I am a new member/contributor of Art Jewelry Elements blog! My first post is up today and it's all about trying out my new gas kiln. I hope you'll check it out!
I know you've been waiting patiently (or not) to see the loot I brought home from my adventure last weekend. All of this was either purchased, swapped or gifted (thanks everyone).
Well here you go...
Fun cowgirl stuff from The Lipstick Ranch.
An assortment of chain from Primitive Earth.
Happy, fun stuff from MyElements! Can't wait to make lots of mismatched earrings with these!
Art beads, art beads, art beads! Let's see, we've got pieces from Golem Design Studio, Tesori Trovati, Green Girl Studios, Metal Me This, Joan Miller Porcelain, Diane Hawkey, Earthenwood Studio, Humblebeads, Marla's Mud.
Vintage cabochons, roman glass, and brass findings from Kabela Design.
I also brought home Vintaj patinas, books, resin, little bags of beady fun from Lori's dinner and other assorted goodies.
So there you have it! Now please wipe the drool off your keyboard before you short it out!
Jan and I stayed at the Hilton which is right next to the convention center.
We must have been at the convention center only 2 minutes when I ran into my Bead Fest friends Erin Siegel and Lorelei Eurto. They were out there to sign copies of their new book, Bohemian-Inspired Jewelry. I was fortunate enough to win a signed copy via Beads of Clay.
Now, Bead Fest has gotten huge over the last few years but Bead & Button is massive! When we finished up our first day I didn't even manage to get 4 rows over. Of course, most of my vendor friends were in the row I started on but you get the idea...
On Friday night I went to dinner with Jan, Marla James and her friend Joni. We had a great time just eating, talking beads and goofing off.
Saturday I woke up feeling icky but after laying in bed for a bit I decided to get off my duff and enjoy the show. I did some shopping on Saturday but mostly dragged my sorry butt around just schmoozing and swapping beads. On Saturday night I attended a fun dinner hosted by Bead Soup's very own Lori Anderson. Here's a few pics...
It's Lori Anderson and her fabulous pink hair!
Marianne of Makustudio...
Saturday was lots of fun with food, swapping and laughing.
Sara, Erin and Jan seem to have enjoyed breakfast!
During the second half of breakfast we moved over to the convention center. I got to meet a lot of cool people including Carmi Cimicata. I've been reading her blog for a long time!
I spent the rest of Sunday shopping, shopping, shopping.
I shopped at MyElements by Yvonne. I love her and her work. It's all happy and cheerful just like her!
I got to meet and swap with Lisa Liddy/Metal Me This, who has wonderful etched metal sheet/findings in an array of patinas!
Oh look, it's a tray of Diane Hawkey beady goodness! ::drools::
Now I know you are wondering where the photos are of the goodies I bought/swapped... Well I haven't had a chance to photograph them yet so I'll get on that. Also, later this week I'll post ALL the photos I took at Bead & Button on my Facebook.
Yay! Today is the reveal for the Art Bead Earring Swap! I paired participants into groups of three and each person was to make a pair of earrings for their two partners. Since all the groups filled up I asked Keri Lee Sereika if she wanted to engage in an extra swap, a one-on-one with me. Keri and I have never swapped with each other before so I thought this would be extra fun. Here's the super cute earrings Keri sent me...
I love them! They go with so many outfits and they are super light! Thanks so much Keri for swapping with me!
Now here's the list of all the fabulous Art Bead Earring Swap participants:
P.S. I'm heading out to Bead & Button tomorrow for lots of schmoozing and shopping. I'll be sure to share lots of photos on my blog when I return next week.
